DCLM Daily Manna Today 23rd February 2021 Devotional – Know God Through His Works

Today’s Devotional; DCLM Daily Manna for Tuesday 23rd February 2021; written by Pastor W.F Kumuyi. May you be blessed as you read on.

TEXT: PSALM 92:1-15

Key Verse: “O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep” – Psalm 92:5

A songwriter wrote, “O Lord, my God! When I in awesome wonder, Consider all the works Thy hands hath made, I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy pow’r thro’ out the universe displayed – Then sings my soul, my Saviour God to Thee, How great Thou art, how great Thou art.” The psalmist expressed the necessity and goodness of giving thanks to God and showing forth His lovingkindness daily.

God had made him glad through His works. He marvelled at the greatness of His work and at the depth of His thoughts and knowledge. He rounded off by affirming that the righteous shall flourish in the courts of God, even at old age to show His uprightness and faithfulness. Our God and His works are awesome.

From the innumerable microscopic organisms in the air and in the soil to bigger creatures like the elephant, to the green vegetation, the rivers and the seas; to birds that fly in the open heavens, to mineral resources such as gold and diamond that are mined at depths of up to 12,000 feet in the ground; to the stars and moon above, and to man created in the image of God, the wonders of God’s creation are manifest and manifold.

And He desires that we know Him. “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight” (Jeremiah 9:23,24).

How much delight do we have in knowing more of God and His word? Do we have a living relationship with Him? Let us draw nearer to Him so as to benefit from His great love, wisdom and power.

Thought For Today: To know God is to love Him.

Key Verse: “But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him” (Psalm 4:3).

1 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness!
You have relieved me in my distress;
[b]Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.

2 How long, O you sons of men,
Will you turn my glory to shame?
How long will you love worthlessness
And seek falsehood? Selah
3 But know that the Lord has [c]set apart for Himself him who is godly;
The Lord will hear when I call to Him.

4 Be[d] angry, and do not sin.
Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. Selah
5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness,
And put your trust in the Lord.

6 There are many who say,
“Who will show us any good?”
Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us.
7 You have put gladness in my heart,
More than in the season that their grain and wine increased.
8 I will both lie down in peace, and sleep;
For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

Today’s Message: DCLM Daily Manna Today 4th March 2021 Devotional

The godly is a cherished and priceless possession of the Lord. He searches the earth for such a soul; and when discovered, is set apart for His service and fellowship. A Christian writer noted that “knowing and loving God is our greatest privilege and being known and loved is God’s greatest pleasure”. Indeed, God wants unbroken fellowship with His chosen children, like Adam and Eve, whom He set apart in the Garden of Eden for constant communion.

The godly must maintain a perpetual attitude of fellowship with God for this is the heartbeat of the Almighty and His greatest expectation. We must develop the attitude of constant conversation with our heavenly Father. This we do by praying “without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). We must worship Him with pure heart and motive; honour Him and meditate upon His word regularly as a means of obedience and submission to do His will. God shares His secrets with the godly. He revealed His redemptive plan for Israel to Abraham who committed himself to passing his faith down to his posterity (Genesis 18:19).

Indeed, “The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant” (Psalm 25:14). Believers should cultivate the enviable attitude of constant conversation with God through prayer. With an acceptable life, he or she is sure to receive manifold portions from Him and an assurance of a place in His kingdom.

Thought for Today: Friendship with God is reserved for those who reverence Him.
