Justice P.A Rimg of a Federal High Court strikes out suit seeking to stop Imo state governor-elect, Emeka Ihedioha’s inauguration

Federal High Court in Owerri, the Imo state capital, has struck out a suit seeking to stop the inauguration of Imo State Governor-elect, Emeka Ihedioha, on Wednesday, May 29th.

The governorship candidate of the Democratic Alternative party in the state, Clifford Eze, had approached the court, seeking an order to stop Ihedioha from being sworn in as the next governor of the state. Eze in his court paper, argued that he won the March 9th governorship election.

Justice Rimg in his judgment said the court lacked the power to preside over a post-election matter. He subsequently awarded a N5m cost against the plaintiff.
