AKPABIO SET TO SUFFER SECOND DEFEAT AS PDP WINS IN 30 LGAS SO FAR

The PDP’s Udom Emmanuel has defeated APC’s Nsima Ekere in all 30 LGAs so far announced in the Akwa Ibom governorship election, with only one left.

This would mean a second defeat for Godswill Akpabio, an APC senator in the state.

BOMB BLAST IN ADAMAWA

The police has confirmed a bomb blast in Madagali local government area of the state.

Abubakar Othman, the state police PRO, has said the incident occurred at Shuwa Catholic Church in Madagali.

The incident involved two female suicide bombers, where one was detonated her bomb and died instantly while other bomb was neutralized and the suicide bomber was arrested.

Hours after millions of Nigerians voted across the country, the results are now being collated in the wards and local government collation centres.

Millions of Nigerians on Saturday trooped out to elect their state governors and state legislators who would lead them for the next four years.

Elections were also held for chairpersons and councillorship seats in the six area councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The positions contested include governors in 29 states, 991 state assembly seats and the six chairmen and 62 councillors for the councils in the FCT.
