DCLM Daily Manna 15 January 2019 Tuesday – Love Marathon written by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi.

TOPIC: Love Marathon

TEXT: John 13:1-15

KEY VERSE: “Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end”. -(John 13:1)

MESSAGE DCLM Daily Manna 15 January 2019 Tuesday:

Pheidippides, a legendary Greek runner and news-bearer, was said to have run a distance of about 26 miles from Marathon to Athens to announce the victory of Greece over Marathon in 490 BC. As soon as he delivered his message: “Nenikikamen” (We have won), he died. This is how long distance acquired the term “marathon race”.

Christ’s love for His disciples could be best described as marathon. “Having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.” Unlike what happens in a 100 metres dash, which lasts but for a brief moment, He loved them till He physically departed from this world. He chose them out of love, taught them out of love, put up with their shortcomings out of love and made them what they became out of love. He demonstrated this love by stooping to wash their feet. DCLM Daily Manna 15 January 2019 Tuesday.

The love of Christ for His own did not stop at the point of His crucifixion. He showed Himself to the disciples after His resurrection and treated and admonished them most lovingly. That love has continued till date. He so “loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious Church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish” (Ephesians 5:25-27). Today’s DCLM Daily Manna 15 January 2019 Tuesday – Love Marathon

If you are one of those who have placed their faith in Christ and saved from sin by His grace, you should be rest assured that Christ love you with a special love. He is such Lord and Saviour that is touched with the feeling of our infirmities. He cares and is powerful enough to walk you through your earthly struggles and take you to heaven at last.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The love of Christ mingled with the love for Christ is the right blend for the Christian.

DAILY BIBLE READING: Genesis 45-47.

TODAY’S TOPIC: GOD’S LIGHT IN MAN

TEXT: Proverbs 20:16-30
16. Take his garment that is surety for a stranger; and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.

17. Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.

18. Every purpose is established by counsel; and with good advice make war.

19. He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets; therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

20. Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

21. An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.

22. Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.

23. Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.

24. Man’s goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?

25. It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy, and after vows to make enquiry.

26. A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them.

27. The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

28. Mercy and truth preserve the king; and his throne is upholden by mercy.

29. The glory of young men is their strength; and the beauty of old men is the gray head.

30. The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil; so do stripes the inward parts of the belly.

KEY VERSE: “The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.” – (Proverbs 20:27)

MESSAGE: DCLM Daily Manna 8th July 2020 Devotional

A Christian preacher once said that the Spirit of God in a true Christian is a bulb in His presence. It is full of light anywhere it is, chasing away darkness all around it.

There are sundry lessons in our text. It talks about our relationship and how to treat others. It also cautions us to respect our parents so that our lamps are not put out in obscure darkness. It further instructs us to avoid the get-rich-quick syndrome that has pervaded our society. It likewise enjoins us not to recompense evil but to wait on the Lord. There is also a warning about using “divers weights”. Cheating is an abomination in the sight of the Lord. It is established that only through the spirit, the candle of the Lord, can we hear and obey His precepts.

In modern-day terms, we can say the spirit of man is the bulb of the Lord. It gives illumination. When a bulb is turned on, darkness is dispelled. In the same way, when you become a new creature in Christ, your spirit is made alive unto God. When God dwells within you, communication with Him through your spirit is made possible.

Unfortunately, many believers today have become careless with their devotional lives. They hurry off to work every morning, thereby, having little or no time for God and His Word. DCLM Daily Manna 8th July 2020 Devotional

To sustain the presence of the Spirit of God, one must read, study and meditate on the word of God regularly. We must let God give us more light on the Scriptures and expound on their meaning until the Word becomes a living reality in our spirit. By so doing, we will brighten the corner where we are and illuminate the dark world.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Feed your spirit with the Word to keep the light burning.
