Dogara's defection marks the collapse of APC - PDP

POLITICS: The Peoples Democratic Party has said that the defection of the speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara to its fold will mark the collapse of the All Progressives Congress ahead of 2019 election.

PDP also said the defection was timely, in the right direction and perhaps a national rebirth.

Bauchi state PDP Publicity Secretary, Yayanuwa Zainabari, in an exclusive interview with DAILY POST Thursday in Bauchi, said Dogara’s informed decision to dump the ruling party justified that PDP is taking over from APC come 2019.

“The defection of Dogara back to the PDP is an indication that President Buhari is packing out of the Villa because the speaker remains the only influential politician whose popularity has a negative tendency on Abubakar even as governor,” Zainabari claimed.

He regretted that lack of internal democracy, injustice and impunity forced Dogara to dump the APC he suffered to build, assuring the Speaker of equal treatment.

Nigerians are currently jubilating Dogara’s defection to PDP which is intended to rejuvenate the nation from APC’s jaw of hunger, poverty and insecurity,” said the PDP spokesman.

Crime: 18-Year Old Paraded For Raping 7 University Students

The police have paraded a suspected rapist, Chidi Okoye Christian, who allegedly raped female students of Ekiti State University (EKSU).
The 18-year-old Okoye has been on the wanted list of EKSU Security Unit for some time following attacks on students living off campus.

The suspect, who is not a student of the university, was arrested and paraded with his accomplice, Odunmbaku Kayode.

Items recovered from Okoye included smart phones, ATM cards, a Raleigh bicycle, a cutlass and a pistol.

Speaking at Iworoko Divisional Headquarters, Chief Security Officer at EKSU Captain Tunde Ajayi (rtd), said seven students had been raped by Okoye in the last three months.
Ajayi, who was with the Investigating officer, said most of the victims live in nearby Iworoko.

The EKSU guard noted that the suspect usually carries a pistol with which he threatens his victims.

Ajayi said: “With a good knowledge of the neighbourhood where Okoye himself resides, it was easy for him to unleash terror in the middle of the night and return to his room, which he shared with an accomplice, Kayode Odunmbaku.”

Okoye confessed, and he was identified by his father, who told the police that the suspect “has been a wayward boy who ran away from home.”

The duo will be charged to court as soon as police conclude investigation.

  • Why Buhari removed Matthew Seiyefa as DSS boss, PDP reveals

The Bayelsa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has given reasons President Muhammadu Buhari removed former Acting Director-General of the Department of State Services, DSS, Matthew Seiyefa.

Seiyefa was replaced with Yusuf Magaji Bichi, by President Buhari last Friday, after he acted for a brief period during which he tried to reposition the security agency.

Chairman of the state PDP, Cleopas Moses, in a statement in Yenagoa, yesterday, said Seiyefa’s sudden removal was borne out of fear by the ruling cabal.

He said that members of President Buhari’s kitchen cabinet were not comfortable with a non-Northerner as the DSS boss.

According to Moses, Seiyefa’s service to the nation was cut short because he is not from any of the major ethnic groups in Nigeria.

He said that this was a continuation of the current Federal Government’s unfair treatment to the Ijaw nation and the Niger Delta region.

He added, “The party believes if Seiyefa was from any of the major ethnic groups in Nigeria, he would not have been thrown out the way the Buhari administration did, not minding his acclaimed competence on the job.

“We have it on record that Mr. Seiyefa had nobody to run to as this ill-advised plot was hatched by the cabal in their government.”

The party chairman said the All Progressives Congress, APC-led government was being anti-Ijaw in its decisions and execution of policies and projects.
