Read: Genesis 25:29-34 Open Heaven 13 August 2018

29 And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:

30 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.

31 And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.

32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?

33 And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.

Open Heaven 13th August 2018 Monday – Don’t Eat Your Destiny

Message – Open Heaven 13th August 2018 Monday Daily Devotional

Food can be very powerful. Adam and eve lost their life of bliss, peace, abundance, glory and honour to food. It is rather unfortunate that many people today are still losing their great destiny to food. It is amazing that in spite of the abundant food provided by God for Adam and Eve, they still developed an appetite for that which was forbidden. It is quite easy to look at the world today and see how food is wrecking the lives of many, you will be shocked.

To fast is the most difficult thing for some people their belly has become their master, and even in some cases, their god (Philippians 3:19). When you read the account for how food destroyed Esau’s destroy and consider that the devil also tried to use food to destroy the destiny of our Lord, you will realise that addiction to food can actually devastate a person’s life.

Open Heaven 13th August 2018 Monday
In Genesis 25:29-34, poor Esau had just returned from his hunting expedition with juicy bushmeat. However, instead of settling down to prepare a meal with it, he lusted after Jacob’s pottage, which was ready to eat. Unknown to him, Jacob had been eyeing his privilege as the firstborn. It did not take Jacob much time to start bargaining with Esau lusted for what he had always desired from birth.

While Esau lusted for food, Jacob lusted for the birthright of the firstborn. Within few minutes, they struck a bargain: Esau got the food he desires and Jacob went away with the privilege of the firstborn. By the time Esau realized the value of the birthright he sold for food, it was too late (Hebrews 12:16-17). It may sound unbelievable, but many ladies have sold their pride of virginity for food. Many housewives have become unfaithful to their husbands because of the generosity of a man who comes to their aid when there was no food at home. A good number of men are no polygamous because they could not control their appetite for the delicious meals of strange women.

Beloved here’s the good news: although the first Adam fell for food, the second Adam triumphed over the temptation of food brought by the same tempter (Luke 4:3-4). As seen from Christ’s example, the only way to avoid falling into the devil in the area of food, the end can never justify the means for you. A stone that is turned into bread will never digest if you happen to eat it; it’s just a lie designed by the devil to steal from you. SO please, don’t eat your destiny. Rather, be guided by the word of God. A job you get by sleeping with a personnel manager will not last; it will only bring sorrow and a great disappointment to your life. Be wise today.

Prayer Point – Open Heaven 13 August 2018

Father, please help me to value faithfulness to Your word above anything like food that represents a means of survival.

Open Heaven 13 December 2018 Devotional – Year of Jubilee written by Pastor E. A. Adeboye

Topic: Year of Jubilee Open Heaven 13 December 2018

Memorise: “Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.”– Psalm 124:7

Read: Leviticus 25:10-13 (KJV)

10 And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.

11 A jubile shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed.

12 For it is the jubile; it shall be holy unto you: ye shall eat the increase thereof out of the field.

13 In the year of this jubile ye shall return every man unto his possession.

Bible in One Year: Daniel 11-12, John 11:1-27

Open Heaven 13 December 2018 Devotional MESSAGE:

The year of Jubilee is a year of liberation or freedom from oppression and servitude. The word “Jubilee” is derived from the Hebrew word jobel, meaning “ram’s horn”, because a ram’s horn is used as a trumpet to announce the beginning of the year of jubilee. It is a year when slaves are released and debts forgiven unconditionally, amongst the Israelites. Describing the tenets of this ordinance, Leviticus 25:39-41 says:

“39 And if thy brother that dwelleth by thee be waxen poor, and be sold unto thee; thou shalt not compel him to serve as a bondservant: 40 But as an hired servant, and as a sojourner, he shall be with thee, and shall serve thee unto the year of jubile: 41 And then shall he depart from thee, both he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return.”

Under the New Testament, we experience Jubilee when we surrender our lives to Jesus. An encounter with Jesus is the fulfillment of Jubilee in its fullness. He is our Kinsman-Redeemer who came to redeem us from the slavery which our spiritual poverty has imprison us in. The Spirit of life in Jesus Christ sets us free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2). Jesus paid the price, repaid all our debts and freed us from every form of bondage we were under through His death on the cross and His resurrection on the third day after His death. Through His work of salvation, we have access to a rest that is found only in Him. For those who have not experienced this rest, Jesus is calling out to you today, saying:

“28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30 (Open Heaven 13 December 2018 Devotional)

Whoever wants to experience genuine and complete freedom must come to Jesus Christ. He is the one who is able to grant all-round freedom: physically, spiritually and mentally. Beloved, if you are experiencing genuine Jubilee from the Lord, I congratulate you. However, if you know you are not experiencing complete freedom, today is the day of salvation. You need to decide today to surrender all that concerns you to Him and commit to living according to his will, and you will begin to experience the total freedom that He gives.

Open Heaven 13 December 2018 Devotional Prayer Point:
Father, I thank You for the freedom You have given me through Christ, please grant me grace to walk in this liberty forever in Jesus’ Name.

OPEN HEAVEN 12 DECEMBER 2018 MEMORISE: Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. Revelation 3:11

Open Heaven 12 December 2018 Read: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Open Heaven 12 December 2018 Message With Hymn And Prayer Points

Imagine that a family goes on vacation for a couple of month, locking up their entire house.

They eventually return home, only to meet workers and artisans going in and out of their house- some cleaning windows, some fixing electrical appliances and others painting the walls.

The family will be shocked because they did not instruct anyone to work in their house. What would you do if this happens to you? I assume you would immediately call the police to assist in getting these intruders out of your house.

Open Heaven 12 December 2018
The same thing needs to happen in the Church of God, as many workers there are intruders. This is the reason why the Lord said in Matthew 7:22-23:

“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

In today’s Bible reading, the Holy Spirit reveals to us the character of those who will receive divine commendation, saying:

“And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:”

To receive heaven’s commendation on the day of reckoning, you must be temperate in all things and run your course with certainty of purpose

Being temperate means being moderate and self-controlled, while to be certain is to be sure-minded and serious. In contrast to this, the attitude of “beating the air” is common place in our churches today.

We have people who teach on missions but who don’t go on missions. Some teach on evangelism but do not go out to evangelize. Others are orators who can get money from the stingiest of persons, but they themselves are not givers.

We need to be mindful of our ways so that we don’t end up being disappointed on theday of reckoning. Learn from Apostle Paul and apply the secret he reveals in 1 Corinthians 9:27 to your life:

“But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”

May you not miss your divine commendation at the end of your life in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 12 December 2018 Prayer Point: Father, please open my eyes to areas of my life where I am not temperate or sure-minded in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 12 December 2018 Hymn 5

I HAVE DECIDED TO FOLLOW JESUS
1. I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
No turning back, no turning back.

2. The world behind me, the cross before me;
The world behind me, the cross before me;
The world behind me, the cross before me;
No turning back, no turning back.

3. Though none go with me, still I will follow;
Though- none go with me, still I will follow;
Though none go with me, still I will follow;
No turning back, no turning back.

4. My cross I’ll carry, till I see Jesus;
My cross I’ll carry, till I see Jesus;
My cross I’ll carry, till I see Jesus;
No turning back, no turning back.

5. Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
No turning back, no turning back.
