Topic: From Above Only

Text: Psalm 75:1-10 (KJV)

Key Verse: “For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another” (Psalm 75:6,7).

MESSAGE: A certain courthouse in Ohio stands in a unique location. Raindrops that fall on the north side of the building go into Lake Ontario and the gulf of St. Lawrence, while those falling on the south side go into the Mississipi River and the Gulf of Mexico. At precisely the point of the peak of the roof, just a gentle puff of wind can determine the destiny of many raindrops. It will make a difference of more than 2,000 miles as to the final destination.

Asaph was telling people to stop acts of wickedness in hopes of getting to the top. He regarded all the dubious dealings to outwit others as acts of foolishness, for promotion comes only from God and not because one is well connected. Trying to force the timeline of God could end in destruction and eternal damnation.

People go into unimaginable lengths in their efforts to grab things for themselves without any recourse to God. Because of the scanty available positions, there is a great scramble to get our own share of the cake. Sometimes, the competition becomes unhealthy with some going to the extent of assassinating their perceived adversaries to the detriment of their own souls.

The fact is, you either have faith in God and His promises for the security, success, significance, and win; or you have faith in the material things and their power to deliver and probably lose your soul in the process. Our text reveals that destinies are fixed by God and not man. Even when we realise our destinies require a change, it must be done through prayers, like Jabez who turned his bitter destiny into sweetness through importunate prayer – not through ungodly means. It is better to patiently wait on God until our time comes.

Thought For The Day: A little patience is what it takes to reach the peak of God’s plan for us.

DCLM Daily Manna Devotional 25 September 2018 – Prayer, The Master Key by Pastor Kumuyi

Topic: Prayer, The Master Key

Key Verse: “Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full“ (John 16:24)

MESSAGE: DCLM Daily Manna Devotional 25 September 2018

The Bible says a lot about prayers and people who prayed. Abraham prayed and so did Jacob. Many people prayed in the Bible and they received answers to their prayers. The Bible even detailed notable prayers like that of Solomon at the dedication of the temple or the quick one that David prayed to God to turn the counsel of Ahitophel to foolishness. Women, like Hannah, prayed too and received miracle children. Even unbelievers like the sailors in Jonah’s day knew how to pray. Prayer is the believer’s heart-cry to the Almighty.

Jesus also prayed. The passage above shows us the master key Jesus gave His disciples. Four times, He told them to ask again and again from the Father so that their joy would be full. He then took them to the school of prayer. He lectured them on the why, what and how of prayer. Prayer must be in His name to be answered. He also taught them to be steadfast in prayer. The world is evil and troublous times are inescapable for the saints. But when such times come, we should pray because He has overcome for us already.

The Church needs the master key of prayer today more than any other time. The key will open any door for the Church, families and the individual. Societal pressures are snuffing prayer times out of the daily schedules of many people. But how can you open doors of success if you abandon the passkey? There is an urgent call to prayer today for all and sundry. You must join them and use the key to make yourself relevant in time and eternity by opening every door blocking your progress. Remember God heareth not the sinners. He desires that sinners first pray for their salvation before He begins to add other blessings to them.

Thought For The Day: Prayer is the master key that opens all locked doors.

Memorize: I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. – John 15:5

Abiding in Jesus isn’t something that comes automatically to any believer. It’s a lifestyle that involves discipline and effort.

We have to choose to give ourselves to our union with Him, to give Him first place where our attention is concerned. If we want to grow spiritually, if we want to walk in power and in fellowship with the Lord, we’ll have to spend the time it takes to know Him.

That’s not something we can do for a while and then forget about either. We must continue in it every day. For the moment we stop moving closer to Jesus, we always start drifting away.

You see, here in this natural world you’re surrounded by ungodliness. You live in a body that is totally natural. Unless you purposely counter that with daily prayer and time in the Word, your body and your mind will simply give in to the pressures around you and go the way of the world. Kenneth Copeland Daily Devotional 25th September 2018 Kenneth Copeland Daily Devotional 25th September 2018

Right now, make a decision to give yourself to the things of God. Focus your attention on the Lord. Surround yourself with His Word. Listen to preaching and teaching tapes while you’re getting dressed, driving to work, preparing dinner, working on your car, exercising, cleaning house and when you go to bed. Listen to the Word of God anytime, anywhere! Kenneth Copeland Daily Devotional

Abide in Him today.
