RCCG Open Heaven 22 February 2018 Daily Devotional – Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Topic: He Alone is God

Memorise: For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 1st Timothy 2:5

Read: Exodus 20:1-6 (KJV)

20:1 And God spake all these words, saying,
20:2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
20:6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.RCCG Open Heavens 22 February 2018 Daily DevotionalBible in one year: Leviticus 21-22, 1st Corinthians 9:8-23, Hymnal: Sing Hymn 13

Message:
The God whom I serve is not only the beginning. He is also the ending (Revelations 1:8) this is why He can give a lost soul a new beginning and also bring those without hope to an expected end (Exodus 12:2, 2nd Corinthians 5:17,Jeremiah 29:11). This simply means that the Almighty God that I serve is the All in All who fills everywhere (Psalm 139:7-13, Ephesians 4:9-10). The supremacy and pre-eminence of the Almighty God of heaven and earth was not bestowed on Him by any man or creature; they are inherent in Him (1st Timothy 6:16). His supremacy and pre-eminence must be acknowledged by all His creation (Psalms 103:19-22).

RCCG Open Heaven 22 February 2018 Daily Devotional – He Alone is God

In today’s Bible text, God demands exclusive worship from those He calls His own. He clearly spelt out this demand because He knows that there is a tendency for mankind to worship the contraptions of his heart. Who is the God that you serve; the self-existing God or a contraption borne out of the imagination of men’s hearts? A lot of people today have idolised other men’s heart?

A lot of people today have idolised other men to the point of worship. Open Heaven 22 February 2018. They fellow what such people say and believe what they spew out of their mouths, even when such things are contrary to what the Creator has said in His word. Some people worship whatever the imagination of their heart brings to them by believing that they are what their thoughts say they are, contrary to what God created them to be. To such people, their imagination is their god and they bend in whatever direction it leads them. This is why some people subject themselves to gender reassignment surgery, based on what their imagination dictates. As a human being, whether you like it or not, there will always be something you worship, even though you don’t realise it. it is a dangerous thing to make anything aside from God of heaven the object of your worship, because this elicits a curse from heaven. Jeremiah 17:5 says,

“Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trustth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.”

RCCG Open Heaven 22 February 2018 Daily Devotional – He Alone is God

Moreover, the Lord commanded that we should not bow to anything or anyone but Himself. This was the position Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego took when they were faced with option of bowing or burning (Daniel 3). They chose to burn rather than bow to the image of King Nebuchadnezzar. Today, for fear of death, many are bowing to the image of witchcraft, sorcery and various occult groups. Jesus came to deliver such people, if they will accept Him (Hebrews 2:14-15). Don’t let anyone deceive you, there is no other god beside the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and Jesus is the only way to Him (1st Timothy 2:5). Accept Jesus today and put your absolute trust in Him alone.

Action Point: Open Heaven 22 February 2018
Is there anything or anyone playing God in your life? Renounce the dominion of such persons or things over your life and begin to worship the one true God.

OPEN HEAVEN 12 DECEMBER 2018 MEMORISE: Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. Revelation 3:11

Open Heaven 12 December 2018 Read: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Open Heaven 12 December 2018 Message With Hymn And Prayer Points

Imagine that a family goes on vacation for a couple of month, locking up their entire house.

They eventually return home, only to meet workers and artisans going in and out of their house- some cleaning windows, some fixing electrical appliances and others painting the walls.

The family will be shocked because they did not instruct anyone to work in their house. What would you do if this happens to you? I assume you would immediately call the police to assist in getting these intruders out of your house.

Open Heaven 12 December 2018
The same thing needs to happen in the Church of God, as many workers there are intruders. This is the reason why the Lord said in Matthew 7:22-23:

“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

In today’s Bible reading, the Holy Spirit reveals to us the character of those who will receive divine commendation, saying:

“And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:”

To receive heaven’s commendation on the day of reckoning, you must be temperate in all things and run your course with certainty of purpose

Being temperate means being moderate and self-controlled, while to be certain is to be sure-minded and serious. In contrast to this, the attitude of “beating the air” is common place in our churches today.

We have people who teach on missions but who don’t go on missions. Some teach on evangelism but do not go out to evangelize. Others are orators who can get money from the stingiest of persons, but they themselves are not givers.

We need to be mindful of our ways so that we don’t end up being disappointed on theday of reckoning. Learn from Apostle Paul and apply the secret he reveals in 1 Corinthians 9:27 to your life:

“But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”

May you not miss your divine commendation at the end of your life in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 12 December 2018 Prayer Point: Father, please open my eyes to areas of my life where I am not temperate or sure-minded in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 12 December 2018 Hymn 5

I HAVE DECIDED TO FOLLOW JESUS
1. I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
No turning back, no turning back.

2. The world behind me, the cross before me;
The world behind me, the cross before me;
The world behind me, the cross before me;
No turning back, no turning back.

3. Though none go with me, still I will follow;
Though- none go with me, still I will follow;
Though none go with me, still I will follow;
No turning back, no turning back.

4. My cross I’ll carry, till I see Jesus;
My cross I’ll carry, till I see Jesus;
My cross I’ll carry, till I see Jesus;
No turning back, no turning back.

5. Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
No turning back, no turning back.

DCLM Daily Manna Devotional 13 December 2018 – Shun Inordinate Ambition written by Pastor Kumuyi

TOPIC: Shun Inordinate Ambition

TEXT: MARK 9:30-37

KEY VERSE: “And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all”  – (Mark 9:35).

MESSAGE: It is truism that “pride goes before a fall”. The Christian life is filled with various paradoxes such as ‘the way up is down’, ‘the way to live is to die’, and ‘the way to receive is to give’. The uniform teaching of the word of God is against self-seeking, self-projection, self-exaltation, inordinate ambition and pride of life.

The projection of self in every endeavour describes what sin itself is: Selfishness In Nature. No doubt, God is interested in our progress, success, breakthrough and advancement. He says, “we shall be the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath”, that “whatsoever we do shall prosper”, and many more! However, our motives, modes and methods of actualising this are of great concern to God.

DCLM Daily Manna Devotional 13 December 2018 – Shun Inordinate Ambition

In the world today, people seek a place of prominence in the workplace and the neighbourhood. In several instances, they take steps that are ungodly to attain the desired position, thereby losing the presence and favour of God. This reminds us of a certain young man who coveted the position of his boss and felt that the boss had stayed too long there and must give way to him. He travelled to the village and mentioned it before his fetish father. His father promised to look into the case. Back in the place of work the following week, his boss just got to his office in the morning, slumped and died. His father called him and told him he had “finished” the work. What a world!

Bribing our way to success, cutting corners to reach the top and defying all Christian ethics including using undue influence popularly called “long leg”, run contrary to God’s word. His word, way and time are the best in achieving the desired best for our lives. DCLM Daily Manna Devotional 13 December 2018

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Making haste outside God’s plan attracts His displeasure.
