Topic: Unity of Purpose (DCLM Daily Manna 20 February 2018)

Bible Text: 1 Chronicles 12:23-40

Key Verse: “All these men of war, that could keep rank, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king” (1 Chronicles 12:38).

Message: A story is told of a man who, on his dying bed, desired to teach his three sons a lesson in unity and cooperation. He asked for a bunch of broom which he demanded they should break. Each of them tried but could not break the bunch. He then told them to untie the broom and attempt to break them stick after stick. This they did very easily and the lesson was not lost upon his sons, who vowed to their father that they would always stick together. DCLM Daily Manna 20 February 2018

Deeper Life Daily Manna 20 February 2018 Devotional by Pastor W.F. Kumuyi – Unity of Purpose

David’s route to the kingship of all Israel had been a chequered one. He ran from Saul’s fury and wrath, hiding in caves, mountains and forests. But God’s time for the fulfilment of His plan had come at last for him to be crowned. Being a man of war, so made by the circumstances of his time, he had a well-organised army with an astonishing number of brave and fearless soldiers.

Everything was provided for a successful coronation.
Our text is about the gathering of men of war at Hebron (verse 40) for the singular purpose of installing David as king. They came from all the tribes of Israel, including the “children of Issachar which were men that had understanding of the times” (verse 32). These men of war that could keep rank came with a perfect heart (verse 38). The lessons here are on unity and perfect commitment for a good and noble cause.

DCLM Daily Manna 20 February 2018 Devotional by Pastor W.F. Kumuyi – Unity of Purpose

There is a noble cause which has been committed to the Church and that is reaching the whole world with the gospel. Jesus is coming soon; the church should be busy evangelising to get sinners into the Kingdom. Are you involved in this good cause? There must be unity of purpose if we are going to be successful in this great task.

Thought for the day: God is honoured when we unite for a noble cause.

Billy Graham Daily Devotion 10 December 2018 – Steadfast Love

Memorize: Your steadfast love, O Lord, is as great as all the heavens . . .  —Psalm 36:5 (TLB)

Young people talk a lot about love. Most of their songs are about love. . . . “The supreme happiness of life,” Victor Hugo said long ago, “is the conviction that we are loved.” “Love is the first requirement for mental health,” declared Sigmund Freud. The Bible teaches that “God is love” and that God loves you. Billy Graham Daily Devotion 10 December 2018

To realize that is of paramount importance. Nothing else matters so much. And loving you, God has a wonderful plan for your life. Who else could plan and guide your life so well?

What is real love? Read Billy Graham’s answer.

Prayer for the day Billy Graham Daily Devotion 10 December 2018

TOPIC: The Kingdom In Focus

TEXT: Romans 14:10-22

KEY VERSE: “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost” – (Romans 14:17).

MESSAGEDCLM Daily Manna 10 December 2018 Devotional:

Have you got faith? “…Have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth” (Romans 14:22).

Martin Luther King Jr. once said ‘Never, never be afraid to do what is right, especially if the wellbeing of a person or animal is at stake; society’s punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our souls when we look the other way’. The Christian church is uncompromising in its stand against all kinds of conduct opposed to scriptural standards.

Our text deals with issues that bother on the believer’s understanding of true Christlikeness, holiness, fruitfulness, doctrine and morals. This involves a sincere rebuking, correcting and evaluation of one another where necessary in love and humility and the exercise of church discipline on erring members and leaders.

DCLM Daily Manna 10 December 2018 Devotional – The Kingdom In Focus by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi

Believers should refrain from judging one another. Christ our Lord is the One who has the right to judge. We must avoid anything that constitutes a stumbling block to fellow believers especially the weak ones. As believers, whether we are strong or weak, we must realise that true liberty does not lie in the exercise of that liberty if it will disrupt the peace of the body of Christ, knowing that the highest good is only attained in its use to edify the church.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Use not your liberty as a cloak of maliciousness.
