CHILD ABUSE: A 12-year-old housemaid Miss Faith Nwanja has narrated how her madam tortured her regularly.

Nwanja, currently in custody of Ezza-South Local Government in Ebonyi state, narrated to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, in Abakaliki, the dehumanizing treatment meted on her by her madam, Mrs Nkechinyere Bartholomew in Onitsha, Anambra state.

The girl, a native of Okoffia-Ohaji, said Bartholomew, now at large, subjected her to serious torture for four years.

“My mistress usually inserts sticks inside my vagina, hits me with iron rods, wires and also ties me with chain whenever she is going out.

“My Aunty always uses blade to cut my skin.

“These scars, injuries on my head, body and lips were inflicted on me by my Aunty for 4 year,.” she said

Mrs Ngozi Nwanja, the mother of the victim, said her daughter was 8 when she was handed over to Bartholomew.

She said efforts to see her daughter was not successful as Bartholomew’s mother always claimed that her daughter’s contact number was not reachable.

“When Bartholomew came for my child through her mother who resided in Idembia Ezza-South LGA, she promised that her daughter will take good care of her,’’ she said.

Mr Godwin Igwe, Head of Department, Child Development in the state ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, confirming the incident described the degree of injures on the victim as real damage and evil.

He said “The Chairman of Head of Department of Education and Social Welfare of the council. Mr Sunday Ogodo, ordered the arrest of the mother and brother of the accused because they were conniving to shield Bartholomew from arrest.

“Her mother and brother have been released by the police, but her younger sister is still in detention because she stays in Onitsha with them and also brought the victim back to Ebonyi along with her aunty.

“The perpetrator boasted that she will settle the matter with money.

“This is worrisome. There is increasing cases of child brutalization.

“From all indications Nwanja’s hand is condemned and we don’t know the extent of damage to her brain and other parts of her body,” Igwe said.

Igwe further appealed to the government, Civil Society Organisation (CSO), philanthropists, International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), the police and public who are interested in Child protection to save children from abuses.

“Bartholomew would be prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others and the victim would be taken to the hospital for medical examination and treatment.

“We will take steps to stop the trend as its portraying a negative image of the country before the International community,” Igwe added.

Nnamdi Kanu reveals how Aisha Buhari admitted her husband is dead, names people who brought Jubril

Nnamdi Kanu reveals how Aisha Buhari admitted her husband is dead, names people who brought Jubril.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has commended the wife of President Buhai, Aisha for her statement that revealed two powerful people controlling the affairs of Buhari government.

As we reported earlier, Aisha on Tuesday said two powerful people were frustrating her husband’s effort in running the affairs of the country.

She, however, failed to mention the names of the powerful persons.

But Kanu in a live broadcast on Saturday commended Aisha for speaking against the ills in her husband’s administration while condemning the likes of Oby Ezekwesili and other activists.

Appreciating Aisha, Kanu hoped that the president’s wife could be the next president of Nigeria.

The Biafran leader also disclosed that Abba Kyari and Mamman Daura are the two men frustrating Buhari government and responsible for bringing Jubril of Sudan to Aso Rock.

He said: “Why have Oby Ezekwesili and so-called activists not asked the government about those two people running the cabinets?

“Common sense is not common in the zoo called Nigeria, why are people not outraged that two men are holding people hostage?

“I have renewed respect for Aisha Buhari over her latest statement at a conference organized by Project 4+4 in Abuja on Tuesday and also women like Patience Jonathan, Dora Akunyili and Okonjo Iweala.

“These women sometimes make me think Nigeria would have been a better place if a woman was the president.

“It will be better for Nigerians to vote Aisha Buhari to be the President, she is very bold, truthful, frank and upright same as Patience Jonathan.

“Considering what Aisha Buhari said, ask yourself, will she speak that way if her husband was still alive and not dead.

“Aisha Buhari is basically asking Nigerians to rise up in a revolution because those people are now in charge. The question to ask her is ‘where is your husband?

“Her statement is unbelivable, where are the men meant to stand up against these two people.

“Also at the event was the wife of ‘cowardly’ vice president, Yemi Osinbajo who should be swept away. Osinbajo is a spineless coward, not a human being.

“If Aisha had an opportunity, she would be harsher than I am, you see why I say Nigerian men are cowards, see what a woman is saying.

“Look at Aisha Buhari telling elites to get up and do something about the government. Since men cannot do anything Aisha urged women to fight.

“Aisha Buhari named two men in control of Nigeria, those men are Abba kyari and Mamman Daura. Those two people are ruling 180m Nigerians and responsible for bringing Jubril from Sudan to Nigeria.

“These two men went to Sudan to replace Buhari because they wanted to retain power.

“Aisha is telling you in coded language that her husband is no longer in Aso Rock, Nigerians should wake up. Recall her speech in 2016 where she said her man , it was at that stage that the idea of getting a replacement for Buhari arose.

“I grade this woman highly for not shying away from issues in the country, I like Aisha because she is amazing and courageous. You must all respect her than your Daddy G.O and clerics who just care about money, seeds and offerings.

“From Abba Kyari to Sultan of Sokoto, God will punish you all for your evil acts.”

Buhari must go, Obasanjo insists

Former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo has insisted that the country’s current president Muhammadu Buhari must be voted out when the West African nation goes to poll inObasanjo, who supported Buhari in 2015 against Goodluck Jonathan, said in a statement on Sunday that his former ally had done almost nothing to reposition the country.Buhari rode into power in 2015 on the wings of populist promises of remodelling the economy, fighting biting insecurity, especially in northeast Nigeria and rein in the reign of corruption that has blighted the country for decades.Buhari must go, Obasanjo insists

But critics like the former president said Buhari’s government has performed way below expectations.

In January, the former president accused Buhari of being nepotistic and said the president was lacking in the requisite capacity to make Nigeria better.

Obasanjo acknowledged his complicity in making a man who he said “is weak in the knowledge and understanding of the economy” the president. He said he thought that Buhari could make “use of good Nigerians in that area.”

“The lice of poor performance in government – poverty, insecurity, poor economic management, nepotism, gross dereliction of duty, condonation of misdeed – if not outright encouragement of it, lack of progress and hope for the future, lack of national cohesion and poor management of internal political dynamics and widening inequality – are very much with us today,” Obasanjo said in a 13-page statement titled ‘The Way Out: A Clarion Call for Coalition for Nigeria Movement’ at the beginning of the year.

He doubled down on those claims in the Sunday statement issued by his media aide Kehinde Akinyemi.

Akinyemi said his principal believes that “only a fool will sit on the fence or be neutral when his or her country is being destroyed with incompetence, corruption, lack of focus, insecurity, nepotism, brazen impunity and denial of the obvious.”

That Sunday statement came after a News Agency of Nigeria’s report said Obasanjo had chosen to be a neutral participant as Africa’s most populous nation prepares for general elections.

The report noted that Obasanjo had shifted “gear to neutral, from outright partisanship and endorsement of the opposition candidate.”

“It is disingenuous, if not malicious, for anyone to suggest that Chief Obasanjo was being neutral when he chose not to use the Owu Convention as a platform for political campaign but instead adopt a communal and familial approach in talking to members of his Owu family,” Akinyemi said.

“For the records, and as accurately reported by some media organisations, what the former president said at the convention in Iwo was that while he would not impress any candidates on them, Nigerians should vote for credible candidates who will drive growth and development and make their lives better than it is now.”
