It was learnt that members of the vigilance group, headed by one Kwali, had been declared wanted by the Niger and Kaduna states police commands over the abduction.
Our correspondent gathered that Idris and Peter were told to head a five-man team to arrest the suspects.
Men of the vigilance group reportedly attacked the team, resulting in the death of the two cops.
A source said, “Idris was initially taken to a hospital in Kagara, but some soldiers stormed the hospital and arrested five policemen, leaving Idris to bleed to death.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, on Monday said, “The Nigerian Army authorities in Minna released the policemen.”
