Tiger Woods breaks silence: Alcohol was not involved
Former world number one Tiger Woods has broken his silence on his arrest in Florida on Monday morning.
The golf legend, who who was charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI), said alcohol was not a factor and instead blamed an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications.
Woods, who is currently sidelined from competition after having his fourth back surgery in April, said in a statement he took full responsibility for his actions and apologised to his family, friends and fans.
“I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved. What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications,” he said.
“I didn’t realise the mix of medications had affected me so strongly.”
The father-of-two continued: “I would like to apologise with all my heart to my family, friends, and the fans. I expect more from myself, too. I will do everything in my power to ensure this never happens again.”
Woods, who is second on the all-time list with 14 major titles, was booked at 03:00 local time (07:00 GMT) and released several hours later on his own recognisance, which means he promised in writing to co-operate with future legal proceedings, according to an online police report.
His back surgery has ruled him out of the PGA Tour this season.
Speaking about the surgery on his blog, he previously said: “I could no longer live with the pain I had – we tried every possible non-surgical route and nothing worked.
“I had good days and bad days, but the pain was usually there, and I couldn’t do much. Even lying down hurt.

Atiku with German Ambassador

POLITICS – Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of being undemocratic despite coming to power in 2015 through a democratic process.

Atiku stated this on Thursday when he visited Kogi State delegates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The presidential aspirant noted that Nigerians are presently suffering under the All Progressive Congress-led Federal Government.

He debunked the insinuation that he currently holds grudge against his former boss, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

“I will continue to express my reservations on the willingness of President Buhari to hand over power. I have a simple and straight explanation for this. When Buhari took over power in 1983, they asked him of his transition to civil rule, then he responded, he doesn’t have.

“My stand is that one, he is not a democrat. Secondly, he is only using democracy to go back to power. If he loses election in 2019, he must hand over power” Atiku averred.

‘Buhari should be brought out to debate us, the media should force them out of hiding’ – Sowore

A corp member is currently battling for survival after he was allegedly assaulted, yesterday, at the Kaduna State NYSC Orientation Camp (Black Gold Camp).

He allegedly tried to explain to the soldier that he had to leave, as he is not bounded by the camp rules, but the soldier started harassing him. A male soldier later joined his colleague and kicked the corper, who fell and landed awkwardly on his head. The soldier was said to have pulled him up with his belt, raised him high and dropped him, making him faint immediately.

The victim was then rushed to the camp clinic, where preliminary assessment showed that he broke his neck in the process. He was later rushed out of the camp to a clinic and it’s being rumored that he is now between life and death.
