The last words of a pilot battling in vain to stop his plane from crashing with his entire family on board were: “I’m doing the best I can”
Joseph Crenshaw, 45, was flying a Cessna 210 aircraft from Disney World in Florida back to Tennessee when the tragedy happened.
The plane hit heavy rain and wind as it came over Alabama, an air accident report revealed.
Mr Crenshaw was in contact with air traffic control who advised him to take an alternative route.
As he was being guided away from the storm, the plane suddenly descended from 12,000ft to 5,800ft, ABC3340 reports.
