The land donation to the Fulani Herdsmen in Bayelsa state has generated a lot of interest and concern amongst its citizenry. Since, the state Governor Hon. Seriaki Dickson made this known it has become everyday topic in all quarters, both social media and gathering.
From stastics it has shown that the gesture of the excellency is widely critized. The question is, does the genture worth it?
Here are questions a Facebook user ask and surely it needs to be answered.
1. How many Izon people who are in other parts of the country have been given free land to farm or a free lake/river to fish?
2. Is cattle rearing not a private business? Is it a state own business?
1. All Izon people should resist the donation or ceding of any part of Ijaw land to foreigners. The people elected the government. The government never elected the people.
2. Izon people should move into the donated land and start all manner of agribusiness, from poultry to fish farming to goat rearing to dog rearing to pig rearing and any other rearing business. Those who want to build farm settlements in the said location can also do so. The land is free for any agribusiness.
