BARCELONA FIRE OUTBREAK: Tomorrowland Unite Spain festival evacuated after huge fire breaks out engulfing Barcelona stage hours before Steve Aoki performs
Tomorrowland Unite Spain festival has dramatically been evacuated after a huge fire broke out engulfing its stage in Barcelona hours before Steve Aoki was due to perform.
Thousands of people have been seen running in the opposite direction of the main stage after a blaze broke out near the banks of speakers.
A video shared on social media shows how the blaze erupted in a matter of seconds as the speaker system was engulfed in fire, triggering music fans to run for safety.
The emergency evacuation procedure flashed on the stage screen as the flames erupted.
Local media said 22,000 people had been evacuated from the site, Parc de Can Zam, which was playing host to the event until 3am after a 3pm start this afternoon.
One eyewitness reported on social media that the stage simply “just exploded”.
Another witness claimed that the fire “apparently started during a fireworks display” – though this was yet to be confirmed.
There were no initial reports of any injuries.
