One man has died and seven people have been injured after a ride malfunctioned at the Ohio State Fair.
The horrifying accident took place on the Fire Ball ride on Wednesday evening, which was the opening day of the fair.
An 18-year-old male was killed on impact and five of the injured are reportedly in a critical condition and two are in a stable condition, reports the Columbus Dispatch.
Footage of the incident shows part of the ride coming loose as it swung around and people being tossed out of their seats into the air.
A witness told NBC News that “the whole car went flying off and over the side while in motion.”
The Governor of Ohio, John Kasich, released a statement shortly after the incident took place, saying a full investigation will be taking place.
