MARCUS RASHFORD has backed Manchester United’s move for Real Madrid star Alvaro Morata – even if it means extra competition for places.
Antoine Griezmann’s decision to stay at Atletico Madrid has forced Jose Mourinho to switch his attentions elsewhere.
Everton’s Romelu Lukaku and Torino’s Andrea Belotti were also linked with a switch to Old Trafford, but Morata is the one that the Premier League side want most.
And Marcus Rashford, who finished the campaign as the club’s second top goalscorer behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic, believes the 24-year-old is exactly the player United need.
He told Sky Sports: “At a big club you are going to attract big players and that’s what we want.
“Anyone who can come in and help the club win trophies, which is the ultimate aim, they are the players we want to bring in.
“Good competition is important if you want to be successful.”

According to reports on Tuesday, Morata has outlined his intentions to remain at the Bernabeu – even though he made only 14 La Liga starts for Madrid.
Despite his lack of action, he still found the net 20 times for the Spanish giants.
And he added the Champions League, coming off the bench to help his side defeat Juventus on Saturday, to the domestic title.
