An airline has apologised after a plane passenger was dragged from his seat and down the aisle floor by police – because his flight was overbooked.

The man had refused to leave his seat after being told he had to leave the flight when the airline couldn’t find any volunteers.

“This is an upsetting event to all of us here at United. I apologize for having to re-accommodate customers,” big boss Oscar Munoz said.

He added: “Our team is moving with a sense of urgency to work with the authorities and conduct our own detailed review of what happened.
