A doctor who branded Michelle Obama “monkey face” and claimed she spoke “poor English” has resigned from her job, it was reported.
Michelle Herren quit her post as a pediatric anesthesiologist at Denver Health Medical Center, the facility confirmed on Friday.
It came a day after Herren was fired from from the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine where she held an unpaid faculty position, the New York Daily News reported.
Herren sparked outrage after her vile Facebook rant about the First Lady earlier this week.
She shared an unflattering picture of Mrs Obama and wrote: “Doesn’t seem to be speaking too eloquently here, thank god we can’t hear her!
“Monkey face and poor ebonic English!!! There! I feel better and am still not racist!!! Just calling it like it is!”
She also lashed out at Harvard University, where Mrs Obama studied law, claiming it is for “entitled’ folks” and “all the liberals.”
Following the furore, Herren claimed her comments had been taken out of context and insisted she did not know the term “monkey face” was racist, Denver 7 reported.
Herren was placed on administrative duty and was not permitted to treat patients before offering her resignation on Friday.
It comes just weeks after a racist Facebook post about Michelle Obama sparked a furious backlash which saw a West Virginia mayor forced to resign.
The First Lady was branded an “ape in heels” in a vile social media post comparing her to president-elect Donald Trump’s wife Melania.
Following the Republican candidate’s victory, Facebook user Pamela Ramsey Taylor, from the tiny town of Clay in West Virginia, praised the shift from Obama to Trump.
She wrote: “It will be refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified first lady back in the White House.
“I’m tired of seeing an ape in heels.”
