Donald Trump has made a second apology after a tape emerged of him making lewd remarks and boasting about groping women.
In a statement released tonight he admitted his words were “foolish” and that “Anyone who knows me, knows these words don’t reflect who I am.”
“I said it, I was wrong, and I apologise,” Trump added.
The Republican presidential candidate went on “I never said I was perfect”, before going on to say campaigning around the country in recent months has “changed” him.
However, he went on to describe the tape as “nothing more than a distraction” from the “real world” problems facing America.
In the video released by the Washington Post earlier today, Trump is heard saying: “when you’re a star… you can do anything.”
The clip, filmed in 2005 as Trump chatted with Access Hollywood presenter Billy Bush, appears to have been captured as Bush accompanied the presidential candidate to a soap opera set.
It begins with just audio of the two chatting, with both men’s microphones switched on.
And Mr Trump can be heard saying: “I did try and f*** her. She was married.
“And I moved on her very heavily. In fact, I took her out furniture shopping . She wanted to get some furniture.
“I said, ‘I’ll show you where they have some nice furniture.’ I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn’t get there. And she was married.”
They can then be heard gasping over another woman, thought to be actress Arianne Zucker, who arrives to meet the pair.
