MANCHESTER UNITED – Jose Mourinho and his team do not want to be in the Europa League and, on the evidence of this , neither do his players.
The Manchester United chief admitted that neither he or United wanted to be involved in the competition. Any more displays like this and United’s stay in it will be short-lived.
That would suit Mourinho , as he plots United’s Premier League title push, but the manner of this loss and the abject way his squad responded to being handed their chance, will alarm him.
Having made eight changes from the 2-1 derby defeat to local rivals Manchester City, Mourinho expected a reaction from the new faces, but watched in dismay as they fell flat.
This was a throwback to the dark days under David Moyes and Louis van Gaal, when United played without direction or purpose, with no fluency to their play. Continue
