Manchester City had to play the derby against Manchester United without Sergio Aguero after he was found guilty of a “brutal” elbow on Winston Reid a week earlier.

However, during the derby, Zlatan Ibrahimovic appeared to charge elbow-first into City defender Nicolas Otamendi, causing a cut which required bandaging.

The FA reviewed that incident, just as they did the Aguero one, and found that nothing untoward had occurred, report the Manchester Evening News.

Looking at video of the two incidents, it is difficult to see a difference, but three former referees who make up the FA’s review panel certainly thought there was.
