A Failed Destiny
Welcome to today’s Daily Manna Devotional written by Pastor W. F Kumuyi

Text: 1 Kings 15:1-8
The reign of Abijam, the son of Rehoboam was uneventful. Although he was said to have been buried in the city of David, this was no guarantee that he made it to heaven. In fact, the brevity of his reign was a clear indication that God was not happy with him.
The heart of man is so given to the pursuit of the mundane things of the world that it hardly accommodates the things of God. Like Abijam, many measure their wealth by the number of wives they marry, the number of children they have or perhaps, the number of properties they are able to acquire and accumulate.
The Scripture warns that a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses. Following a wrong mentor would mean you are prepared to share in their destinies. Abijam’s life occupies a mere footnote of history. Yours as a child of God must never be like his. Your life must never be determined by material and carnal parameters. If Christ is truly the Cornerstone of your life, you need to be the salt of the earth and lightened lamps on the bushel providing illumination to all. In sum, you ought to be a channel of blessing to all.
Thought for the day:
Where is your place in history – a footnote or a chapter?
